TCA’s can be essential to the successful long-term management of tree(s). As well as help limit the risk of any future hazards to the tree itself, property or person(s). They provide a valuable tool to inform individuals, employers, real estate valuations, landowners and local authorities about public safety.
Our team of experts can work with a wide variety of clients and produce TCA’s that are detailed, solutions based and a cost effective means to manage trees.

Tree Hazard Assessments
A tree hazard assessment will identify hazardous trees, the potential risk they present and the practical solutions require to minimise/remove any risk. They can be useful for private homeowners, public institutions, estate managers and developers to help fulfil their duty of care and as a cost effective risk management tool .
At CWTS we will take a close look at the tree’s form and function . And identify any anomalies such as any large dead branches in the tree, strong trunk lean, premature leaf discoloration, tree topping, over pruning, decay or rot.
Whatever the task in hand be-it one single tree or acres of trees, our team of professionals will provide you with a comprehensive yet easy to understand assessment to help protect you, your trees, other people and nearby properties.

Tree Decay Detection
At CWTS we have a unique range of decay detection equipment including;
The Resistograph is another instrument used to determine the strength of the wood and internal condition of the tree. A microdrill enters the tree and any changes in the speed of the rotation of the drill are picked up and translated into a graph. The minute drill holes closes itself up without damage to the tree. Our arborists are then able to detect wood decay, stages of rot, hollow areas and ring structure. An ideal tool for determining the tree stability and longevity of the tree.
Tree Decay Detection when used in conjunction with Tree Condition Assessments are a valuable and cost effective management tool

Air Spading
- To check for root rot beneath the surface
- To separate compacted soil that has been blocking nutrient and water flow to the roots
- To try and rectify any girdling (circling) of roots which can cut off or restrict the movement of food and nutrients.
- To perform a root collar excavation (RCX) to help remove soil from around the root collar.
At CWTS we utilise our own Air Spade device, which uses compressed air to break up the soil. Air Spading works more efficiently than digging and prevents damage to the roots.
